Working at HSSMI | Meet New Starter Carina Medina
In October 2022, HSSMI welcomed Carina Medina as our HR & Admin Officer. Carina has studied HR and she is looking forward to growing her knowledge with her work at HSSMI.
Why did you decide to join HSSMI?
CM: I was searching for a company where I could start my career as an HR professional. A company that aligned with my values and where I could be part of something big, when I came across HSSMI. Being a sustainable company working towards achieving net zero with their practices not only made an impression on me, but the level of commitment made me want to be part of the team.
How has HSSMI and your team supported your development?
CM: I still have a lot to learn (processes), but the responsibility, trust, work expectations and communication within my team has been a huge aid in my development. For these reasons, I can work/ support the business with confidence, and I now have a better understanding of the systems, protocols, and projects.
What do you appreciate most about working at HSSMI?
CM: Our all-employees meetings. It might sound strange but for someone like me who does not have a vast engineering knowledge, I feel that these meetings help to understand exactly what HSSMI does. In addition, it makes me feel included and even more part of the team, knowing what the current projects are and the teams working on those projects.
What are your expectations from working at HSSMI?
CM: To continuously gain HR knowledge to be able to assist the business and employees with solutions, queries and support. Also, create new ways to motivate and recognise the work of HSSMI employees.
How will working at HSSMI help your career?
CM: It will enable me to put into practice the theory that I have been learning with my HR studies. Besides, it will give me the opportunity to continuously grow my knowledge in policies, employment law, and other HR related subjects relevant to the business.
