Working at HSSMI | HSSMI Welcomes Experienced Sustainable Manufacturing Leader Neil Hume
/0 Comments/in Uncategorized /by Zane Mezdreija
Neil Hume, experienced sustainable manufacturing leader with over 30 years of experience, has recently joined HSSMI. We are thrilled to have him on board and the team looks forward to learning from his expertise as we continue to deliver cutting-edge projects across the manufacturing industry together.
Neil has had an established career at Jaguar Land Rover, where he was involved in product engineering as well as product programme and operational management. He has a proven track record of building new engineering teams from scratch, launching new manufacturing facilities, and driving continuous improvements.
Neil brings with him a wealth of experience in electric vehicle (EV) batteries, as he previously built and led the operational engineering and facilities team for the Jaguar Land Rover Battery Assembly Plant as it was built near Birmingham, overseeing equipment and support facilities commissioning and installation. Alongside his role at HSSMI, Neil also works with Autocraft on their EV-related projects, providing his guidance and expertise to help the company expand into the EV battery manufacturing and remanufacturing market.
When asked about his decision to join HSSMI, Neil says “I wanted a chance to use my experience to the benefit of companies and organisations that are undergoing growth or change; companies that are looking to diversify and create new products and associated production methods. HSSMI offers excellent opportunities to assist leading manufacturers across a range of industries in upscaling through the creation of new, sustainable manufacturing processes”.
Neil continues, “The most exciting thing for me as part of the HSSMI team will be working with a highly skilled and experienced team and helping a diverse customer base”.
Neil has enjoyed a career that closely aligns with the ambition of HSSMI to help the manufacturing industry reach net zero. Neil says, “I’ve been very fortunate to have had the opportunity to work on and lead the delivery of a diverse range of products, associated production facilities and support services. Using this experience, I believe that I can contribute towards HSSMI’s vision of increasing the competitiveness of the UK manufacturing industry, promoting circular economy and sustainability principles, and in turn achieving notable change not only for our customers, but society in general”.
David Stewart, HSSMI’s Engineering Director for Research and Innovation, says about welcoming Neil on board: “We are privileged to have Neil join the team at HSSMI. He is one of the most experienced and well-recognised manufacturing leaders working in the automotive industry today. We are excited to work with Neil to leverage his background in planning, launching, and managing high-volume powertrain and vehicle production facilities. Together, we will apply this knowledge to support the growing number of emergent and ambitious automotive technology companies, looking to rapidly scale up production, that we are working with today”.
