ReGaIL successfully culminated in June 2021. The project demonstrated new recovery methods using novel solutions – ionic liquids – instead of the more conventional aqueous chemistries, which are based on strong oxidants and concentrated acids.

HSSMI is undertaking the PET Full Loop project together with with Veolia, Unilever and Charpak. The project seeks to improve the state of recycling in the UK by developing the country’s first dual PET bottle and tray recycling facility over the next three years.

Air transport accounts for 11.6% of total transport emissions at the moment. The UK’s Department for Transport has estimated that moving away from conventional jet fuel towards more sustainable alternatives could cut annual emissions from the aviation industry by up to 23 megatonnes.

HSSMI was approached by an intermediary (FEV Consulting) on behalf of a client in Turkey that was looking to purchase used equipment from a decommissioned factory in the UK.

Britishvolt is poised to establish England’s first full-scale battery cell Gigafactory, with Phase One "go-to-market" production targeted for 2024. There is a considerable amount of planning to be done in the leadup to start of manufacturing.
