The newly launched 5GEM-UK (5G-Enhanced Manufacture - UK) project will aim to demonstrate the value that 5G will bring to the manufacturing industry by creating testbeds at two sites – Ford Motor Company’s site in Dunton and TWI’s facility in Cambridge.

At HSSMI we often look at innovative ways to improve existing workflows for the manufacturing engineering sector. One of the more recent interests was in the development of a workflow to implement the use of photogrammetry using drones for manufacturing.

This paper aims to present the IN 4.0 project, aiming to ease the adaptation and adoption of I4.0 practices and technologies in maritime sector companies in order to improve their competitiveness, especially targetting SMEs.

During the HyDIME project, HSSMI conducted a techno-economic assessment of the HyDIME system being installed in Orkney and identified potential threats of the system as well as opportunities to scale and replicate the it across the UK.

Working with our Circular Economy team, Andy came across ‘Future Fashion Factory’, a £5.4 million R&D partnership exploring and developing new digital and advanced textile technologies to boost the design of high-value creative products.

At HSSMI we develop interactive digital maintenance manuals that combine machine information with 3D CAD data to aid maintenance engineers on the shop floor. The eManual integrates 3DPDF features with multiple data sources.
